SUPPORTS THE NATIONAL THEME: "GO TO HIGH SCHOOL, GO TO COLLEGE"
PROGRAM NEEDS
The average college graduate enters the job market with a $30,000 loan. In recognition of the financial burden families must endure, the fraternity has expanded the scholarship program to five categories.
Martin Luther King (MLK) Scholarship (’97)
For high school graduates who have outstanding high school academic, civic, and social records.
MLK Continuing Scholarship (’04)
For previously selected MLK Scholars who establish outstanding records during their first year in college.
Harrison DeShields, Jr., Scholarship (’06)
For graduate students. Matching funds are provided by the DeShields family and friends.
Felix James Scholarship (’05)
For Alabama State University upper class teacher education majors. Matching funds are provided by the James Family and Friends.
Charles Price Scholarship (’10)
For high school graduates who have the potential for demonstrating the tenets espoused by Judge Charles Price. Matching funds are provided by the Price family and friends.
Percy Blackmon Scholarship (’15)
For high school graduates who require special assistance, including financial support. Matching funds areprovided by the Blackmon family and friends.
TAX EXEMPT
Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Upsilon Lambda Educational Foundation provides stewardship of
scholarship funds. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, tax exempt organization designated
by the Internal Revenue Code. Donors may send contributions at any time to the Alpha Upsilon
Lambda Chapter, P.O. Box 6058, Montgomery, AL 36106-6058
2025 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
The application will be available in March 2025. Prospective applicants may apply for only one
